Engine Options

F-150 - Available Now at Glenwood Springs Ford

Drivers can choose from five different engines: a 3.0l diesel V6 (250bp), a twin-turbocharged 3.5l V6 (400hp), a twin-turbocharged 2.7l V6 (325hp), a 5.0l V8 (400hp), or a 3.3l V6 (290hp).

There's also a hybrid 400hp option available, for drivers who want a truck with greatly reduced gas consumption. A 10-speed automatic transmission is the only option available.

The Mighty SuperDuty

There's no getting away from it, SuperDuty engines are BIG! Choose from a 6.2l V8(385hp), a 7.3l V8 (430hp), or a 6.7l turbodiesel V8 (475hp). The engines come teamed with 10-speed TorqShift auto transmission, although the smaller gas engine has the option of 6-speed auto transmission.

Towing Capacity

The F-150 maxes out at 14,000lbs (using the 400hp twin-turbo 3.5l V6). In contrast, the SuperDuty will deliver up to 37,000lbs of towing power (using a fifth wheel or gooseneck), using the formidable 6.7l turbodiesel engine. Conventional towing power from the 6.7l engine comes in at 21,200. The 7.3l V8 can tow 21,000lbs.

Infotainment

The F-150 and the SuperDuty share the same cab specifications. This means that the infotainment offered is the same for both vehicles. The type of infotainment screen and capabilities you get is largely determined by the trim level. The base spec XL comes with an 8-inch Capacitive LCD screen. The higher XLT specs and the rest of the range benefit from a 12-inch, center-stack LCD screen. Equipped with SYNC4, the F-150 includes Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, App Link W/ App Catalog, 911 Assist, cloud connectivity, and a digital owners' manual.

Ford claims to have improved the voice recognition for 2022 — the SYNC4 has double the computing power of the old SYNC3. The result is that drivers can give more natural-sounding commands and still get the desired response.

Safety

Since the F-150 and the SuperDuty have the same cab, the safety features are similar. They include the Ford 360 Co-Pilot 360 2.0 driver assistance package (available as standard in all specs except the XL), as well as physical safety features including roll stability control, trailer stability control, ABS, airbags, and child seat fixtures.
