Engine Power and Performance

First of all, the Escape gives you groundbreaking power and performance specs. So groundbreaking, honestly, that it’s difficult to know where to begin in enumerating this SUV’s distinctive strengths. Here’s a start, though: in the Escape, you’re going to get (1) titanic engine power; (2) impressive efficiency; (3) wild amounts of towing power; (4) a Curve Control and Torque Vectoring System; (5) 6-Speed SelectShift Automatic Transmission; and (6) Auto Start-Stop Technology. Check it out.

Engine Power – Depending on the trim you choose, you’ll be able to opt for a differently powered engine. For example, the Escape S runs on a 2.5L iVCT that produces 168 hp and 170 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the SE and Titanium trims give you either a 1.5L EcoBoost, or a 2.0L Twin-Turbo Scroll EcoBoost. The first of these mammoth machines gets 179 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque, while the 2.0L generates 245 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. What this means is that, no matter what, you’re going to be able to depend on a phenomenally reliable engine to get you from Point A to Point B…and fast!

Towing Power – Okay, but what does all this power translate into when it comes to towing capacity. Well, basically you can rely on your Escape to lug all but the very heaviest loads all over the state: it boasts 1,500 pounds and 3,500 pounds of capacity. Whether you’re towing a trailer up into the mountains, a small boat down to your summer camp, or even using your vehicle to bring materials over to the new house or worksite, the Escape is going to offer you a herculean engine that ensures a trouble-free tow.

Efficiency – Now add on to all this engine power truly impressive efficiency as well. For example, the 2.5L iVCT engine promises to give you 21 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, while the 1.5L EcoBoost with Auto Start-Stop gets 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway with FWD, and 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway with 4WD. The 2.0L Twin-Turbo Scroll EcoBoost, meanwhile, realizes 22 mpg in the city and 29 on the highway with FWD, and 20 mpg in the city and 27 on the highway when equipped with 4WD.

6-Speed SelectShift Automatic Transmission – On the one hand, the Ford Escape gives you a sleekly designed transmission system that ensures an incredibly smooth drive no matter what the conditions. On the other hand, 6-Speed SelectShift transmission features a Sport Mode that will override your automatic system with a manual transmission device, thus allowing you to enjoy a more visceral driving experience whenever you so choose. Meanwhile, when equipped with the EcoBoost engine, the Escape throws into the equation race-inspired steering wheel mounted paddle shifters that allow you to change gears quickly and with no effort whatsoever.
2017 Ford Escape Stopped
Auto Start-Stop Technology – Another one of the Escape’s efficiency-maximizing devices, Auto Start-Stop technology is able to shut the engine off automatically when you’re stopped while turning it back on as smoothly as possible when you need to get going again. What this means is that you’ll save on fuel without even having to think about it, at least when Automatic Start-Stop is activated.

Curve Control and Torque Vectoring Control – In addition to the Escape’s power-generating and efficiency maximizing devices, however, it also comes equipped with a uniquely designed Curve Control and Torque Vectoring Control system that is able to keep your car as stable as possible on the open road. By using its throttle response and anti-locking braking system, the Escape can determine when you’re traveling too fast to take a curve and then transfer more traction to the outside tires than to the inside ones via G-Force, thereby improving your vehicle’s stability.

Technology and Design

In addition to all this power, you can also trust in the Ford Escape to provide you with some of the most cutting-edge technologies in the industry, including (but of course not limited to) (1) SYNC3 technology; (2) SiriusXM Satellite Radio; (3) SYNC Connect; (4) a Hands-Free Liftgate; (5) ample seating; and (6) a fully redesigned interior as well.

2017 Ford Escape Touchscreen
SYNC3 – One of the most exciting additions to this year’s Escape, SYNC3 features all new technology, giving you, for example, new hardware, cutting-edge software, and even a newly re-envisioned design that is easier to use than ever. With SYNC3, you’re going to have access to a wide range of apps to keep you connected, entertained, and engaged, but you’re also going to be able to operate it either via touchscreen or by voice.
2017 Ford Escape Sirius
SiriusXM Satellite Radio and TravelLink – The Escape’s SiriusXM Satellite Radio provides you with as many as 150 radio stations, giving you a tremendous selection of commercial-free radio options, as well as access to sports, news, and a spectrum of other entertainment options as well. Meanwhile, the Escape also boasts both SiriusXM Traffic and TravelLink for additional navigation options, promising on the one hand constant updates on traffic jams, road work, and more, while also ensuring destination information, route maps, and much more to help you get from wherever you’re coming from to wherever you’re going.
2017 Ford Escape Cellphone
SYNC Connect – One of this car’s especially exciting add-ons this season, Sync Connect makes it possible for you to keep track of your Ford’s location remotely, and even depend on your phone to run a number of the Escape’s functions from a distance. For example, using only Sync Connect, you’ll be able to lock or unlock the Escape’s doors, check its fuel levels, and complete a number of other tasks simply by using a FordPass app on your smartphone.
2017 Ford Escape Trunk
Hands-Free Liftgate – What’s more you can banish all the frustrations of having to fumble for keys or drop packages when you’re loading or unloading your car. With Hands-Free Liftgate, you can open (or close) the Ford’s liftgate simply by swiping your foot underneath a sensor attached to the bottom of the car. Simply walk up to the car with your Escape’s Intelligent Access key in your pocket, and you’ll be able to operate its liftgate without ever even touching this SUV.
2017 Ford Escape Interior
Seating – Plus, this is an especially spacious vehicle. First of all, the Escape gives you seating for five, allowing you to fit all your family and friends, but you’re also all going to be able to stretch out in the Escape with its 98.7 cubic feet of passenger volume. At the same time, you’ll have ample space to fit all your luggage and bags as well with the vehicle’s generous cargo dimensions—indeed, you’re going to get 68 cubic feet of space behind the first row of seats alone. Finally, with 60/40 seating, you and your passengers can decide how to apportion this space. Depending on whether you need more space for passengers or for cargo, you can keep the seats up or lay them flat.
2017 Ford Escape Wheel
Redesigned Interior – Finally, the Escape also features a gorgeously redesigned interior, with a centrally located navigation center as well as a beautiful 3-spoke heated steering wheel and an ergonomically placed gear shifter, too. At the same time, the Escape features comfortably accoutered seats and a stunningly appointed cabin to boot.

Last but not least, the Ford Escape is outfitted with some of the very best safety devices available, from a (1) Personal Safety System, an AdvanceTrac device, and (3) a Tire Pressure Monitoring System, to (4) BLIS with Cross-Traffic Alert, a (5) Lane-Keeping System and (6) an Enhanced Active park Assist device. Read on to explore each of these in some detail.

2017 Ford Escape airbags
Personal Safety System – First, the Escape will allow you to rest assured about your safety with its Personal Safety Airbag System. Not only does this SUV give you dual-stage driver- and front-passenger airbags, as well as knee and front-mounted side airbags, but you can depend on its Safety Canopy, which promises two more side-curtain airbags that can deploy in the case of rollover and occupy the space between the passenger’s head and the side window for added protection.
2017 Ford Escape Blue
AdvanceTrac – AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control is able to maintain your Escape’s stability at breakneck speeds on the highway. By assessing the SUV’s stability as much as 150 times per second, the Escape’s AdvanceTrac system can determine when extra braking needs to be applied to one or more to the wheels in order to prevent the possibility of a rollover.
2017 Ford Escape Orange
Tire Pressure Monitoring – Moreover, in the Escape, you’ll never have to exit your vehicle’s cabin in order to check on the conditions of the tires. Instead, you can just trust in the vehicle’s super-accurate Tire Pressure Monitoring device to figure out whether your tires have enough air pressure or whether you’ve got to make a pit stop at the next gas station.
2017 Ford Escape Mirror
BLIS with Cross-Traffic Alert – BLIS—which is short for Blind Spot Information System—is able to alert you to the presence of vehicles in your blind spot so that you can avoid imminent threats while out on the road. Not only will BLIS monitor the area around your car for emerging threats, but it will also display this information directly on your mirrors, allowing you to keep tabs on the area around you without ever taking your eyes off the road. Meanwhile, its Cross-Traffic Alert device can tell when another vehicle is about to cross your path from behind, thereby allowing you to avoid possible collisions when backing up.
2017 Ford Escape White
Lane-Keeping System – With its Lane-Keeping System, the Escape can survey your driving performance and warn you when you’ve begun to drift from one lane to another by giving the steering a quick jolt, thus making it possible for you to identify and correct drift when you’re next out on the highway.
2017 Ford Escape Rear
Enhanced Active Park Assist – Finally, this SUV’s Enhanced Active Park Assist device simplifies parallel parking first of all by surveying the area around the Escape for available parking spots and then giving you instructions to help you steer into tight spaces. At the same time, the Escape will emit a warning if you approach too close to another parked car while you’re backing up.
